  • Operational Resilience Maturity: Mapping Progress with the Professional Practices Model

A maturity model provides value in determining the progress being made on operational
resilience objectives and the capabilities for continuous improvement. The initial step is
selecting the maturity model components. The Professional Practices for Business
Continuity Management is the basis for the maturity model in this chapter. Each of the
Professional Practices have a defined objective with operational benefits. Maturity levels are defined through five levels ranging from emerging to being fully integrated across all
operations. Tables are provided for each of the Professional Practices, along with the
elements required to improve to the next maturity level. An example of how to set
appropriate goals for long term process improvements is shown. The goals include
establishing a baseline, setting targets, and tracking progress. Every organization can
select their roadmap to attain their desired maturity level. Use your scorecard to help
track progress toward maturity level improvements in a sustainable way.
