How to Lead, Follow & Guide the Way

All organizations seek to be resilient, yet most do not have a clear definition of what that means for them or a plan to manage the journey to attain it.
This resilience playbook includes the right combination of technical knowledge, team structure, leadership support, and behavioral competencies, all based on a clear “Lead, Follow, Guide” framework.
Based on the author’s three decades of successfully implementing resilience-based strategies at Goodyear and other major companies, this book offers road-tested advice and techniques to bring quick wins and long-term success in organizational resilience.

Meet Mike Janko

Mike is Goodyear’s Director of Global Business Continuity and the company’s global enterprise leader in development and application of resilience-based policies, procedures, protocol, and guidance to provide immediate positive strategic business impact.

He holds multiple certifications in business continuity and risk management, including Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP), Master Business Continuity Institute (MBCI), Certified Business Continuity Lead Auditor (CBCLA), and Associate in Risk Management (ARM).

He effectively managed response and recovery to over 3,000 business continuity events, crises, and incidents (for Stouffer Hotels, Nestle, and Goodyear) over 30 years.

Mike has also taught courses, classes, and workshops at Cleveland State University and Cuyahoga Community College and led training for AICUO, which represents all the independent colleges and universities in Ohio.

Critics' Reviews

“Over the past twenty years I’ve had the chance to work with Mike and his teams to plan for and respond to dozens of hurricanes, winter storms and supply chain challenges. Our support of associates, the communities where we operate, and business operations were top priorities.
Following each situation, we assessed our process to close any gaps and improve upon our future efforts. Through these coordinated efforts, we recovered quickly from every challenge and thrived as a team.
Excellence in Operational Resilience shares successful strategies proven over multiple decades. Mike’s method of leading, following and guiding the way enables every team member to contribute, provide their expertise and remain aligned on a common path, ultimately leading to outstanding performance. We take pride in knowing that regardless of the crisis we may face, the support for our associates, the communities where we operate, and business operations will be executed well, and negative impact will be minimized.”

“Mike Janko’s engaging approach in building Excellence in Operational Resilience is a model for not only the manufacturing industry. Colleges and Universities have proven that collaborative efforts with external agencies are critical components of resilient organizations. Align the right teams, deploy the right strategies, and have the right objectives to create a resilience awareness culture.”

In my own words...

"Here are the standards for your operations to be resilient…"

Other books on resilience may start that way, but my book does not. See how a combination of the right technical skills, personal behaviors, and attributes of a resilient leader can help you to lead, follow, and guide the way toward operational resilience.
