  • Executive Leadership During Uncertainty

Uncertainty doesn’t wait for us to have all the answers.

That was the idea behind our most recent Impact Analysis LIVE, where Ellis Jones, Jerome Ryan, and I sat down for a conversation on executive leadership during uncertainty. We were glad to partner with Kathy Gannon Rainey and the Risk and Resilience HUB to offer it as a free virtual webinar on September 17.

Why this conversation, and why now

Leaders are rarely handed a clear map. Disruptions don’t arrive on a schedule, information is incomplete, and the people around you are looking for direction anyway. Most leadership advice assumes you have time to gather all the facts. In practice, the decision often has to be made before the picture is complete.

So we set the format aside. There was no product launch and no keynote theatrics, just a candid discussion about three things:

Making decisions when the data is partial and the stakes are real
Creating clarity for teams and stakeholders when the situation itself isn’t clear
Leading when the path forward is anything but certain

Why the trio format

Each of us comes to resilience from a different angle, and that was the point. A single perspective on leadership under pressure is useful, but three perspectives in conversation tend to surface the tensions and trade-offs that a solo presentation smooths over. (The iPhone Duo may be getting all the attention, but we think the trio is more useful.)

Keep the conversation going

Operational resilience isn’t built in the moment a crisis hits. It’s built in the conversations leaders have beforehand about how they’ll decide, communicate, and adapt. If this topic is on your radar, I’d like to hear how your leadership team is approaching it.

And keep an eye on the Risk and Resilience HUB for the next Impact Analysis LIVE.
