  • Aligning Objectives with Mission: The Foundation of Resilient Deployment Strategies

Common objectives that are well defined, communicated, and understood support
resilient deployment strategies. Obstacles to meeting team objectives are shared. An
annual objective-setting process should be aligned with the organization’s mission. The
role of human resources, direct managers, and operational leadership in the objective-
setting process is shown. Every team supporting operational resilience should have
relevant objectives. Objectives for global and regional leaders vary from those of tactical
and facility-based associates. Objectives should be part of everyone’s blocks of work
summary. A blocks of work example is provided in this chapter. The importance of core
competencies in how objectives are attained cannot be understated. An example of how
to track the completion of objectives at agreed-upon frequencies is shared. Examples of
leadership mindset and motivators for success are included.
